Protecting northern forests - key to mitigating climate change (AirClim - The Air Pollution and Climate Secretariat - Sweden)

Presentation of the report that was Commissioned to Climate Analytics on the role of Northern forests in climate change mitigation and have a panel debate on the report's findings and conclusions with representatives from governments, NGOs, scientists and indigenous peoples. The key message is that Northern forests play a key role that is often not seen and not valued. In particular the boreal forests of the Arctic hold vast amounts of carbon in their soils, and protecting these forests is a key element of any global climate mitigation strategy.
