Indigenous Peoples face climate change consequences among first and its impact may become stronger in the conditions of large development and green economy projects on their lands. However, the situation cumulative effect from economic activities and climate change can be taken under control if the standards of relationships between Indigenous Peoples, States and the Private Sector are high. In Russia and elsewhere in the world such standards are being developed. The side event will provide discuss consultations and agreements that companies and Indigenous Organisations jointly develop to assist sustainable development, mitigation of climate change impacts and safeguard the environment. The side event also will provide examples of most recent corporate policies and mechanisms that companies establish to respect human rights of Indigenous Peoples. In addition, participants will discuss the study of the state of the art and prospects of Business - Indigenous relationships that is an outcome of an expert seminar recently held in Moscow.
